Friday, Dec. 1

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., children may ride the Polar Express from the Williamson Area rail Road Museum cars at Prichard St. to the Williamson Library for Christmas stories, then ride the Express back to the museum cars. Ticket prices are $5.00. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

Saturday, Dec. 2

10:00 a.m. - Entries for the Quilt Contest must be present at Davis Furniture, on 2nd Ave. Judging will be from 10 a.m. until noon. Previous winning quilts are not eligible to enter. Prizes will include $100 for Best of Show, $50 for Most Traditional, and $50 Most Unusual. Winners will be announced during the “Meet Santa Reception” following the parade.

This event is sponsored by the Mingo County Democrat Women Committee, Darlene Hannah, President.

2:00 p.m. - Entries for the “Bake Off Contest” must be present at the Moose Lodge dining room on 2nd Ave. $100 prizes will be awarded for those receiving first place recognition in the categories of cakes, pies, cookies, candies and misc. desserts. The winners will be announced during the Meet Santa Reception.

The Bake-Off is sponsored by the Williamson City Hall. For more information, contact Frances Frye, 235-1510.

3:00 p.m. - Goodwill Industries on 2nd Ave. will begin serving cookies and punch for all those who stop by. They will continue passing out these treats until 5:00 p.m.

3:30 p.m. - Children will begin registering for the “Kid's Reindeer Run at the steps of the Williamson Library.

4:00 p.m. - “Kid's Reindeer Run” will begin in front of the Coal House on Court Street. T-Shirts and prizes will be awarded. This is always a fun kid's event, and is sponsored by the Tug Valley Roadrunners Club.

4:00 p.m. - Parade participants will begin their line-up. Floats and larger groups should gather in the parking lot located behind the Mingo Lime ‘n' Lumber building at the end of Brick Street on West 2nd Ave. Fire departments and marching bands have assigned locations.

Prichard Street and 2nd Ave. will remain open until the parade begins.

4:30 p.m. - “Wildcat” Jude of the Delbarton Opry House will be performing Christmas Carols for sing-a-long and story telling on the Courthouse steps as the crowd awaits Santa Claus.

5:00 p.m. - Parade begins to welcome all as “Santa Claus Comes To Town!!”

6:00 p.m. - The “Meet Santa Reception” at the Moose Lodge dining room will begin immediately after the parade concludes. Santa and Mrs. Claus will have treats for all the children who stop by. The females from the Williamson City Hall will be dishing up Mayor McCormick's famous chili and the Clerk's cabbage soup. The Williamson Women's Club will be serving a cup of hot wassail to chase away the winter chills.

Sunday, Dec. 3

4:00 p.m. - The Tug Valley Choral Society will present the Christmas Cantata “Child of Peace” at the First Presbyterian Church on 6th Ave. A reception is scheduled to follow.
