Sept. 14 - 17, 2006    King Coal Festival, 35th  Anniversary

                                  Downtown Williamson

Tentative schedule of Events

Thursday September 14 2006

  

Dog and Cat show registration is at 5:30 PM.  Show at 6 PM.  To be held at the football field in West Williamson.  Sponsored by Williamson High School HI –Y and Key Club.

 

Baby crawling contest will be held at 7:00 pm in the Mountaineer Hotel lobby.   It is sponsored by the Williamson Women’s Club.

 

Cruise Night in Downtown Williamson from 8 PM to 10 PM.  Sponsor by Williamson High School Key Club and Williamson High School Hi-Y.  All students are invited and encouraged to join in the fun.  Second and Third Avenues between Harvey and Pike Street.

 

Friday September 15, 2006

 

The historical Railroad Display will be located inside the lobby of the 1st National Bank, and available for viewing during business hours.

 

The King Coal Beauty Pageant will begin at 6:30 p.m. inside the Historic Mountaineer Hotel.  The pageant is for ages 2 – 18.  Applications are available at Vicky’s.

 

Saturday September 16, 2006

Crafts and Food vendors in downtown Williamson beginning at 9 am.

 

Chamber of Commerce Food for sale and Displays.

 

Bluegrass Festival:  Bluegrass music starts at 9 AM.

 

10:00 AM to dusk their will be airplane rides. to the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce

The King Coal four mile run will start at 8:00 am, with registration beginning at 7:00 am.  The race will start at the Belfry fire department and will conclude downtown Williamson on 2nd.

 .Avenue.inited24 months and it is sponsored by the

       King Coal Ceremony: Begins at 1 PM Honoring King Coal, Community Service’s Award, Humanitarian Award and Poker Run Awards.

Kid’s Fun Run: starts at   2 PM in downtown Williamson.  It is sponsored by the Tug Valley Roadrunners.  Trophies and T-shirts will be awarded.

King Coal Parade 3:30   p.m. Downtown Williamson: lineup begins at 3:00 PM at the Water Plant.

Annual Baby Contest to be held at 11:00 am at the Methodist church.  Open to ages 6 months through 24 months.

Antique Appraisal Fair at Brick Street Artifacts from 10-5.

 

Sunday September 17, 2006

     S. W. V. C. T. C.    Community Appreciation Meal and Gospel Sing: Cornbread & Bean Dinner, Gospel Music — to be held at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College from 1 PM to 3 PM.  Free meal and music by area groups.
